Website Rescue & Recovery

I help when a website has stopped working for the business: broken, hacked, abandoned by its builder or generated by an AI tool. I find out what is wrong, repair what is worth keeping and tell you plainly when replacing it makes more sense.

Discuss your website project

The problem, and what I do about it

  1. Your site broke after an update, was compromised, or was left behind by a developer or agency who is no longer around.

I diagnose first. I reproduce what fails, separate cause from symptom and agree a repair scope before changing anything.

  2. An AI tool produced a site that looks convincing, but forms, links or content do not work as the business needs.

I test the real customer journey, verify the content against your actual business and repair by consequence and dependency, starting with what stops visitors from reaching you.

  3. You are not sure who controls the domain, hosting or code, and nobody can explain how the site is put together.

I establish who has access to what, document how the site is built and leave you a usable record, whether I repair it or recommend a rebuild.

What you get out of it

A site that does its job again, or a clear, evidenced decision to replace it, with access, ownership and documentation in your hands.

Who it’s for

  • You run a business site that is down, broken or behaving oddly, and the person who built it is unreachable.
  • You built a site with an AI website builder and need to know whether it can be repaired or should be rebuilt.
  • You suspect your site has been compromised and want it examined carefully, not patched at random.
  • You took over a site from a supplier and cannot find logins, source files or documentation.

If your site works and you only need regular updates and backups, WordPress maintenance is the better fit. If the site is healthy and you are moving it to a new host or platform, website migration is the smaller job.

What’s included

  • Diagnosis

A written account of what is broken, what is at risk and what can be saved, based on tests rather than assumptions.

  • Journey and workflow tests

Forms, enquiries and key paths checked end to end, including whether messages reach the right person.

  • Content verification

Generated or inherited copy checked against facts you can confirm, with invented claims and gaps flagged.

  • Repair by priority

Fixes ordered by consequence and dependency, with the expected behaviour defined for each one.

  • Access and ownership

Domain, hosting and admin access traced and brought into your name where you are entitled to it.

  • Keep or replace advice

A reasoned recommendation on repairing the site or rebuilding it, with the evidence behind it.

How it works

  1. Stabilise and back up

I secure access and take a backup of whatever is reachable before changing anything.

  2. Diagnose

I reproduce the faults, test the main journeys and review how the site is built and supported.

  3. Agree the scope

You get a ranked list of problems and a choice between repair, partial rebuild or replacement.

  4. Repair and hand over

I make the agreed fixes, repeat the original tests and leave you a record of what changed and where things live.

Questions people ask

Draft answers, to confirm

Can you fix a website that was built with AI?

Often a focused repair is possible, and a site is not bad simply because an AI tool made it. I test the journey, verify the content and check whether the code can be supported, then tell you whether repair or rebuild is the better choice.

What should I do if my website has been hacked?

Change the passwords you can, tell your host and avoid editing the site further. I can examine it, remove what I find and look for how it got in, but I cannot promise a clean result before I have seen the site.

My developer disappeared. Can you take over the site?

Usually, if you can prove you own the domain. I trace what you have, back up what is reachable and document how the site works before making changes.

Do you work on sites that are not WordPress?

WordPress is my specialism. For other platforms, I will say after a first look whether I can help.
