Training & Documentation
I teach your team to run your website with confidence and leave written guides they can use afterwards, so the site does not depend on one person.
New v6 draft from the service brief, awaiting review
The problem
- Your site works, but only one person knows how to change it, and they might be unavailable or have left.
- Your team is afraid to edit pages in case they break the layout, so small updates wait weeks.
- A developer built the site and gave you logins but no explanation of how anything is set up.
What I do about it
- I train more than one person and write the steps down, so knowledge sits with the team and not with a single individual.
- I show editors which parts are safe to change and how, using the real site, so routine updates become ordinary work.
- I document what exists: where it is hosted, what the plugins and tools do, and how content is structured, in plain language.

What you get out of it
Your team can make routine changes with confidence, and the knowledge of how the site works is written down, not held in one head.
Who it’s for
- You have just had a site built, by me or someone else, and want your team to take it over.
- You inherited a website and nobody on your team knows how it works.
- You run an organisation where several people publish content and need a shared way of doing it.
- You work with an agency or developer and want your own documentation rather than relying on their memory.
If you need someone to do the updates for you rather than learn to do them, ongoing maintenance or one-off support is a better fit. If you want advice on what to do with the site rather than how to operate it, digital consultancy covers that.

Clear notes on which content is safe to change, what to leave alone and what to ask for help with.
Account and access review
A check that the right people have the right access, with a list of logins and who holds them.
Content guidelines
Simple rules for headings, images, links and tone, so new pages match the old ones without effort.
How it works
Scope
We agree who needs to do what on the site, and what they already know.
Prepare
I review the site and write guides around your real pages and the tasks your team performs.
Train
I run the walkthrough with your team on the live site or a copy, and adjust the guides as questions come up.
Hand over
You receive the final guides and documentation, in a format your team can keep updating.
Questions people ask
Draft answers, to confirm
Can you train my team on a site you did not build?
Yes. I start by reviewing how the site is set up, then write guides for the tasks your team actually does.
Do you provide recorded videos or only written guides?
I decide the format with you, based on how your team prefers to learn. Written guides come as standard, and anything else is agreed at the start.
Do I need to buy maintenance afterwards?
No. The aim is that your team can run the site without me. If you later want help, it is available as a separate service.
Who should attend the training?
Anyone who edits or publishes content, plus whoever manages accounts and access. Two people trained is better than one.
